The International Trade Commission of the United States ( ITC , its acronym in English) banned on Friday (9), import and sales of some devices from Samsung infringing patents of rival Apple, told Agence France Presse.
The ITC published on its website the decision "prohibiting Samsung Electronics America and Samsung Telecommunications America continue importing, selling and distributing articles that violate" certain Apple patents. Determination applies to older models of smartphones and tablets Galaxy line.
Samsung to appeal the decision and U.S. President Barack Obama has 60 days to invalidate the determination, according to the website of the newspaper "USA Today".
Last week, however, Obama vetoed a previous decision by the ITC that prevented sales of older models of smartphones iPhone and tablet iPad, Apple, distributed by the American operator AT & T, after the commission decided that the company had violated patents of Samsung.
This right of veto by the president is rarely exercised as highlights the Agence France Presse. The annulment of the previous opinion of the ITC in favor of Samsung, last Saturday (3), was the first such intervention since 1987.According to the opinion issued on Friday by the ITC, Samsung infringed Apple's patents in functions identification of finger movement on touch screens of smartphones, as well as how the devices detect that headphones and other accessories were connected, reports the website of the newspaper USA Today. Even if the current decision involving older models of the line Galaxy, the process may come to be applied to current models "if these models [new] infringe the patents in the same way that old," said consultant specializing in intellectual property, Florian Mueller, the site.
